Deco - disabled by default

Ok, the main question I think everyone is thinking is: Why? What is the point to having the thumbnails show no decorations?

I actually have more than one question. I remember, when I was a noob, my art saves were the only things people liked. Well, can there be a different mode, allowing some for artistic saves?(ya, I know it's the Powder Toy, but cracker64's decoration editor is like no other).

If a save looks bad without the deco layer, perhaps that save is overusing deco. The point of disabling the decoration layer in thumbnails is to make saves that overuse it look ugly, in the hope that this will discourage people from making or opening such saves. Deco layer is not for making saves, it's for making saves look better. It should not be the only thing in a save.

If anyone has alternative ideas about how to reduce overuse of the deco layer, or how to fix this, this would be the ideal time and place to share those ideas.

What about different catagorys. I'm gonna use youtube as an example because that's the only one I can think of. When you make a youtube video, you are given an option to change it's catagory (Music, Gaming etc.)

If powder toy had something like that, it could also have an option to filter out certain catagories. If you had an art catagory and that option to filter out things, everyone would be happy. With that option you could also filter out certain tags, which might be cool. I understand that this would complicated though.

I don't know how to code much but my post on the last page about having a complexity cap for deco (if possible) is my idea to reduce or end solid chunks of DMND art.

The FP system is too forgiving, letting any save that generates a couple of votes quickly get FP. I suggest that it becomes stricter and requires more votes to have a chace off reaching FP.

Well if you think about it, how will that help? I mean, these saves that aren't that great are generated enough votes to get pretty high up on the front page, so even if it is made harder it'll still get there :P

What are you doing tpt? This is getting worse and worse. Overusing deco? Deco is just a piece of the action. A good looking save just has deco, this doesn't mean the save ís art. A good looking save has a good looking thumb, and this will get people to actually watch your save. 99% of the people will just blow it up, the other 1% will actually check out the mechanics. It seems that you only like the small percentage of people that play tpt for the mechanics only. Also you are making the game harder for newbs (again) because the thumb not matching the actually save is rather confusing. Please re-enable the deco thumbs.

    Good news:

I alearedy suggested that in another thread and then copy-pasted it to the IRC. Then boxmein told me devs are alearedy working on it..

Wrong percentages. Most of the saves are nothing. Then the saves which are actually saves are divided in 2 groups, with basically the same number of ppl = art and mechanics.

Don't make a total distortion of percentages to pull the winds to your windmill.

A mechanical save covered with deco is called art? Or is it called mechanics? ;)

This is still highly degrading to the other 75% OF SAVES THAT ARE NORMAL PIECES OF MECHANICS/ELECTRONICS THAT USE DECOR TO COVER UP the ugly electronics. @Cracker, wasn't that its original intention anyway? Then why is the majority being punished to fix the minority? This is outrageous because people are getting so caught up in the crowd against diamond art, that they just want to destroy it at all costs.
