f : Highlight the current primary selected element(red rectangle), press f again to cancel
ctrl + f : Hold the highlight map, add highlight of current primary selected element using a different color
shift + f : Highlight the different form of selected element, highlight both GAS and OIL using the same color with different bright if you're selecting any of them.
ctrl + shift + f : Add highlight, similar to ctrl + f, but add different form of selected element.
*Sorry, f is already used, let's change it to some available key...
More abstractly:
1. The ability to highlight ONE selected element
2. The ability to highlight MULTIPLE selected element
3. The ability to highlight RELATED element group (this is optional, it may takes time to find out all the 'group')

OK, I don't think it sounds too useful though. I already plan on making Shift + f an alternate way to find more similar to my lua script from a long time ago, so I can't use that as a shortcut. I could still do it though if other people think it's useful (using the Ctrl + Shift + f shortcut) -
what about a quick select menu. you can drag like 9 elements into it, then you dont have to find them over and over. key= alt+keypad numbers

Most laptops lack keypads and Fn-keypads are also frequently omitted these days. For example, my laptop has neither. That's why keypad keys would not work. (I have trouble playing Garry's Mod as is...) -

My old laptop had them, I used Ctrl + Alt + (keypad #) to start many programs I used a lot, like my mod or minecraft. My new one doesn't have them though. -
