    How about this:

    - It could be called SPKR, TONE, or PIEZ, whatever you want.
    - Temperature sets tone frequency.
    - Tmp sets wave shape (0=sine, 1=square, 2=saw)
    - Activated with PSCN, produces sound. Deactivated with NSCN, stops sound.
    - Does not conduct heat.
    - All tones from all SPKR/TONE/PIEZ that are active are mixed together.

This would provide a simple and flexible way to create some really neat sound sequencers, warning sounds, beeps, whatever you want.

Not sure if/how to do volume control. Perhaps tmp2?

@mniip: It's funny I was just thinking about that the other day. The only downside to that compared to generating sound from the PC speaker is complexity. For a musician it's no big deal, but just generating sound from the PC lowers the entry level and opens the door to the more general user. TPT will never be, say, MAX/MSP, so maybe keeping it simple would be better? I like the MIDI (or OSC these days) idea, but I wonder if it's appropriate because it definitely puts a limit on who can enjoy it.

Edit: @awesomeone101: I do, lol, and a rack full of synthesizers right next to it. But yeah I agree (we posted at the same time).
