INST glitch

This glitch is really screwing me over. I have made a new processor and it uses alot of INST. However for some reason the INST glitches and fails to conduct at random points along the wires. For instance here is an example.

In the image the spark is coming from the left where I have placed some batteries and PSCN. As you can see it stops for no reason.

I would really like to know if this can be fixed anytime soon?

Can you provide a save where this is happening?

And can you provide any more details about when the problem starts happening? What did you do just before the INST conduction started failing - elements placed, tools used, copy/paste used, etc? Any particular element interactions that make the problem start happening?

Might be a similar problem to the one in this save:

The problem there was invalid wall tiles preventing INST from flood filling with SPRK. I had no idea how the invalid wall tiles had been created, and the user who reported the problem didn't provide any more details of when they tended to occur. So I wasn't able to fix them.

I filled the whole save area with a wall tile and it didn't look like it was fixed. I will send you a save file via pm and show you the points that don't work. From my understanding it started after I imported (you see the square looking shape below the stack) <- one of these. I don't think it is related though.

The glitch doesn't seem to be related to specific element combinations, for example I have tried using PSCN to spark the INST, and depending on where it is on the screeen is PSCN may conduct to the INST, or it may fail to do so. At the same time if it does conduct to the INST, it may or may not travel all the way along the wire (as seen in the above image).

I think it has something to do with the right area of the screen. Because it happens mostly on the right side of the PT window.

EDIT: OMG it worked. I tried using clear wall and it worked. Thanks jacksonmj.

    Hi jacksonmj,

We encouneted the same glitch on inst over here. It started after a copy of a binary counter into the spark maze of my son. With us the spark would stop at the same place every time thoug. He is now trying to fix it. If it works, then i can probably post a working and non working version.

    Just let me know ;-)

The invalid wall tiles were/are made by the signs. It happened to me in a save from the previous beta. I couldn't see the tile until I went and clicked the Save as button. hope this info helps.
Edit: Here's an example of how its made. it is still a problem in the latest official release.

Yes that helped, thank you. Invalid walls caused by the sign tool should be fixed in the next release.

However, it doesn't seem to explain the walls in 535329 or 650143. The walls in your save have an ID of 126 (which corresponds to the sign tool), but the walls in the other saves have an ID of 35.

Saves can be fixed by using the "wall erase" tool on affected areas. Yes, please post the non working version (I don't need a working version :P).

The problem may be related to copying and pasting, since both you and Synergy mention doing that just before the INST stopped working. Where did you get the binary counter from? Did you use the clipboard (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) or stamps?

Wait... 35, What Element has ID 35?

PSCN. But I can't see any way for that to be turned into a wall number. A wall with ID 35 makes no sense :<

If the save is this one:

Then that is caused by the bug that ads999 has just helped me find, which will be fixed in the next release. Using the wall erase tool on the broken areas will fix them in the save.
