First, I'm sorry if this should be in the General section, but I thought that this had to do with a lot of saves.
Machines are popular, like ACID to ISOZ machines, or SLTW to FIRE machines. But sometimes these things stop working after a bit due to updates or problems that had already existed. For example, some fuels like HYGN don't give off SMKE when burned. Under these conditions, I believe it would be 'legal' to use CONV to create SMKE from the FIRE. This is just one example!
What do you think about the circumstances of 'legal' CONV uses in machines like these?
There is nothing legal/illegal about any elemets, neither are any elements/feeatures "cheats" (the old "deco layer" debate). If you're saying that using CONV in certain instances are frowned upon or considered newby, well thats not always the case (of course, f you made a save called "FIRE>SMOKE CONVERTER AWEZOME" and it was just a block of CONV, that probably wouldn't get a lot of votes). Plenty of people use CONV, Decorations, or etc. for making their work easier
I like using both CONV and the 'normal' solutions, I like solving practical problems. (The PLNT kept being set on fire by the SMKE so I had to make a device that cooled the smoke....Not like others do like cooling with PTCT and such, but I did something involving a combination of CFLM, FIRE and DSTW :P)
@ClassiestMedic(View Post) I think in an engine, for example, you could get away with claiming CONV is the closest to a catalytic converter. In these circumstances, if it produced SMKE and a little CO2, it wouldn't really be 'cheating' or 'illegal'.
@theguitarguy(View Post) 'Illegal' means not really 'cheating', in these conditions, but kinda like... Like using CONV to turn SLTW into FIRE/PLSM. It is 'cheating', kinda, as the 'proper' way is to evapourate it to split the SALT and DSTW, then split the DSTW into HYGN and OXYG, then burn them with a little GAS or, if you're Catelite and don't give a damn about realism (;P), cloned fire.
It's interesting to hear your input! I agree with cctvdude that any and all splitting or converting that can be done should be done, before CONV is put in.
I don't think it's cheating but I agree with CCtvdude99, I would prefer to see splitting done the "Long" way, but using CONV dosn't bother me in the lest.
