I'm learning about coding for apps and such for Ipod/Iphone/Ipad. I might be semi-experienced by the end of 2012 and will be developing during 2013. I predict that due to the limits of ios, elements may be cut and pixel size enlarged. If I get the app accepted to the App Store, I am not sure whether to make it 0.99 cents with no ads or free with ads. Either way, I need to find a way to get money from it (because I don't have money and it 99$ a year to test and send apps to Apple to be accepted). So, long-term users of TPT, be looking out for the new TPT app by the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014! Please leave comments and suggestions, I will update you on my progress!
@GreekGuy(View Post) First, 2013? It could be alot faster then that. I could help you if you want. Secondly, obviously, it won't be the greatest app ever, but I think it would please alot of peoples Thirdly, for the price, I don't know, TPT is free AND open source, so it should be free, but ads are as annoying as hell...
Well, by 2013, Apple's mobile line should be running what will probably be called iOS 7. Assuming this will not work on older devices, all iOS platforms should have relatively high (326+ ppi) pixel density, so I don't know how "larger" pixels may work/look. I'd also like to say that in coming years, this looks a lot more possible with quad core phones coming as soon as next year.
I am also, as I always do with "TPT for iPhone/Android phone" plans/suggestions, you're working with a very limited space here. Due to this I am very skeptical about the UI of these proposed apps, but I think the game should run smoothly on tablets. In fact, I made a little design of what I think an iPad interface should look like (image below), though it was last june so quite a few things are missing.
And I would be willing to pay $1-$2 for this app if it means no ads.
EDIT: Actually, the image is quite large and does not fit the width of the page, so here;s a link. It is the exact resolution of the iPad, except your monitor's pixel density is most likely less than that of the tablet, so it looks larger.
I really like the idea but there is logic missing. I am also a beginner app developer and I can tell you to make something like tpt you would need the enterprise program. Not only that do you know how much memory and space it would take. Have you tried to listen to music and play tpt at the same time? Well if it does that on a computer imagine what it would do to a iphone? Then you would need to ask Simon because if you charge for it you would be getting the money. Off of his idea. If this is done I would say it would take until at least 2015.
@ZER02541714(View Post) Are you serious? I started JavaPowder 5 Month ago, coding everything by myself as a hobby and now it has alot of features, Plus the chances of staying motivated all that time is very very low.
The Powder Toy is not Simon's creation, rather it is Skylark's. He made in 2008 or so, because Dan-Ball's java Powder Game would not operate on Linux. Also, Skylark wanted it to be open source and free, so you may need to ask him about charging for it.
