if you want to make a engine use a mix of oil and desl or just spark it a bit longer that also does the job.

In engines, the fuel is ignited by a spark.

I'm the guy who made DESL. I made it as realistically as possible.
Petrol/Gasoline is ignited using electrical sparks from Spark plugs.
Diesel is ignited using high pressure and high temperatures. Trust me, I checked several sources at the time.
Glow Plugs (the diesel equivalent of Spark Plugs) increase the temperatures in the combustion chambers to aid the starting of the engine.
