preloading

    how about continuing to calculate frames at the usual rate when powder toy is paused? the frames could be stored in the hard disk in a reserved space (up to a fixed limit) and played back at 60 fps when unpaused. this will enable owners of slower computers to be able to view large saves smoothly.

    But that would disable all changes for the preloaded time while it plays

    if you make a key combination that would anable and disalble it then it is good

    While this sounds good on paper, it would disallow user input during these free frames.

    Exactly... You'd have an animation. It only predicts the moment it's turned on.
