    Ozone
    Gas
    Lets heat pass through but does not let it back out.
    Would need to be a fairly thick gas for this to work right I think.

    We already have one-way walls with portal and pipe. There's ways to make heat go in only one direction, especially with liquid heat convection. ...I have no idea how you would code that into an element, but even if someone did it, I can't see where it would be entertaining. How does the game decide which side is inside and which side is outside, to control where heat escapes to?

    You already suggested electromagnets. We have gravity which is nearly as effective in almost all of the same ways short of sorting powders, which can already fairly easily be done.

    ....You already suggested Radioactive materials. Read my other post. :|

    Okay, fair enough. HOWEVER I've heard time and time again that the game "has convection" but this is not the case. The game has CONDUCTION. Yes I checked MANY times to be sure using almost every element possible, both gas and liquid. Even air. and yes i tried toggling all the options. There is only conduction.

    Step 1: Place something hot underneath the bottom of a liquid.
    Step 2: Watch in heat view or heat gradient view as the heat is forced higher through the liquid.

    This is called heat convection. Not conduction. =|

    Basically what I'm saying is that there's code in the game that handles heat in liquids differently from normal solids or powders, so that heat rises through liquids instead of spreading out evenly in all directions, since hot liquids are less dense than normal.

    No that is heat traveling through a liquid, not the liquid moving up when heated. That is CONDUCTION not convection.

    Why is it that everyone is having so much trouble understanding this?

    Oh and I mentioned it in another thread because I meant to delete that part of this thread and add it on to that one. I just forgot to delete it...

    There is special convection heat transfer code for liquids. Use a bowl of GLOW and heat the bottom. The particles do NOT move up, you can decorate the bottom ones and see that.

    Convection: Noun: The transfer of heat through a fluid (liquid or gas) caused by molecular motion

    The particles don't move. That doesn't change the fact that the heat is traveling through the liquid in a manner that mimicks IRL heat convection. Why does this matter anyway, the game has no effective realism. The particles are pixels that use no particular units. -_-;

    Anyhow unless anyone else has feedback about the feasibility/uses of an ozone element, doesn't need to be any more chat in here.
