Hi I would just like to ask you, as the community if you agree with me in this statement: The publishing of most wireworld designs, often the ones on the front page, is an act of piracy. Most of these wireworld designs are from the wireworld website. In most cases there is no mention of it coming from this website, so it is basically stealing. It is really frustrating how people are gaining credit from implying that they designed it. Should it be allowed? Should they have to give a mention? Of course this does not apply to any original designs.
I would say it is very difficult to create your own, as so many ideas have already been used, so it is entirely possible that only slight variations of the original can be considered your own. However, yes giving credit to the original creator should be desired.
Though it is stealing and they must give proper credit, most of the gliders, contraptions etc have been done before in other life simulators. Should we delete them aswell? No, because people can use most of the pre-described gates. We don't get sued for using Boolean logic, now do we?
@boxmein(View Post) The thing is, with GOL, it is hard to know who came up with the design, given the age of the whole concpet (It is possible to find out, but still hard) On the wireworld website, the name of the creator is below the image. Also, many GOL designs on TPT were accidents... you can hardly accidently come across a wireworld design by watching it.
