How do you know lava doesn't boil? All liquids 'boil' as they are beginning to turn into gas. I agree that not everything should be realistic. But were you even reading? I had been talking about how the excuse 'It's Powder Toy, not Realistic Toy' highly irritated me. I remember, boxmein, when you were an okay guy. But now, just like many older users, you have just become an arsehole to anyone with a different opinion - especially newer people. But I'm not saying this because of jealousy. More than half of my saves have gone frontpage. I don't care about votes. But I do care about people's ideas and opinions being rejected just because they're different to the status quo. I personally think that going against the status quo is one of the most divine things for human life. Notice how, when people were and are, led by religious leaders, nothing changes or gets better for hundreds of years? Maybe I did overreact. But i am not flaming. If you bag me for having a different opinion to yours, I may tell you to up yourself. If you think your ideas are better, DO NOT suggest that theirs are wrong. I rest my case. EDIT: Maybe i just overjudged you, boxmein. Whoops.
@airstrike52(View Post) We "older members" say full well how powder game fell to such ideals, we will prevent TPT suffering the same fate not matter what the cost is.
Yes. They boil. But not in TPT. I haven't suggested that theirs are wrong. Mercury gas has no use. What uses does it have then? Other than cooling to mercury. Why make it boil? Lava doesn't boil.(in TPT) And, it's Powder Toy, not Realistic Toy.(trolol) For these reasons we don't have boiling metals or oxidizing mercury or what not. (The game is overfilled as is right now. I'd want full realism, but this comes at a cost(performance). Unless we find a faster way to render particles rather than checking nearby particles each and every frame.) People suggest all sorts of weird stuff around here Don't they? And, why do you think Suggestions was shutdown? To keep the game for only engine and performance updates.. for now. Once someone here finds a faster way of producing the same result as current TPT, we could start adding elements by the dozen.
Powder Toy has no "status quo". Powder Toy has no "religious leaders". Powder Toy is made by all of us here. We here are the ones responsible for what may go into the official pool(mostly simon/cracker/catelite actually). I've witnessed how the game slows down by merely adding a few elements. That's what happened to my mod. TL;DR: Anything not needed at the current moment stays out of development at the current moment. Because of the engine was not meant to bear more than 19 elements and a few different walls. Now we have 155 elements, plus new layers of heat and gravity. We've grown out of our shell. With a better engine we could add limitless amounts of elements. The game still basically relies on Stanislaw Skowronek's first ever engine. We didn't need to change it. We won't need to change it until after some time, when the game is drastically slowed down(which it already is) TL;DR: engine slow new engine need many elements
Look guys, sorry. i just felt like a little rage and now that I look back on what I said, I realised on rambled on about something not relevant at all. I take back what I said. What I was originally saying in my first comments was that I get annoyed when people say 'it's Powder Toy, not realistic toy' as an excuse for blocking perfectly good ideas. I then said I would prefer that it was realistic. I then began to pointlessly ramble about suppression of free speech. I actually don't really care about realism in TPT. Box, sorry for bagging you. Anyway, come on guys! Let's get back on topic! BTW, I understand that METL = copper, BOYL = ideal gas, NOBL = helium, or neon, or argon, etc, and that uranium and plutonium are the wrong way around. Trust me, I know my chemistry.
No problem, airstrike52. Yes, uranium and plutonium are the wrong way around. Uranium actually is fissile and decays into plutonium, which is less fissile. Powder Toy is based on stereotyping elements. We don't need 15 types of metal when we have METL. (iron was made for electrolysis and rust)
Don't worry. It's cool. Besides, iron is the most common element on Earth, so that's kind of a given, right? I think it would be a good idea to make URAN a bit fissile, and then switch the names of PLUT and URAN around, as that's easy and makes the game a bunch more realistic, for not much effort, but ah well.
Let me explain this again: TPT was an air simulator. NOT a particle simulator. That should be enough to tell you what the engine was for and the limits. Originally it did simulate air flow, but they added dust and so on it turned to be this. And the point is to keep it original to the old one too. There was another before this site. Unaligned.org
