Going to space for an economic reason is stupid.
    We'd only go to explore.

When space travel becomes much cheaper it wil likely be economically viable to steal random minerals from asteroids and planets and things

Likely, but the only reason why it'd become economically viable is if people invested cash in the first place and they most definitely aren't going in for an economic reason.

That won't be happening til a long time from now. Plus, most asteroids are in the asteroid belt. Judging by the amount of time it will take to reach Mars, it's won't happen unless mankind is really that desperate. I think recycling would be the main solution until technology improves enough for high speed space travel.

We'll soon be out of accessible oil. And we are nearing the point where we will have to construct massive amounts of desalination plants. We are also eventually going to run out of valuable minerals used for jewelery and electronics. (Imagine the powder toy without ALL electronics and without DMND!! :O). Also, there are nearly 1000 times more of these minerals on small moons and asteroids in our solar system than on Earth.

Oil will run out, but most likely replaced by renewable fuel. As for precious minerals, as mentioned earlier, recycling. Also looking out into space so soon is a bit crazy, maybe if we do run out of minerals and recycling becomes difficult due to the absence of oil and technology improves enough. But for now, it will probably cost more money than it makes.
