@ads999 Can't you do it the way I suggested where you just see which is the fastest? As I already said how in my previous post I'm not going to repeat.
@ads999 No I mean fastest at melting/freezing, Ill explain again, use the counter that I mentioned in the other post to record 10 times, ignore any times when the metal starts sparking, then take away the fastest and slowest times away then average the 8 timed out and the see which is the fastest.
@ads999(View Post) Well the fact that it is fact is going to screw up the melting/freezing as it has less frames to receive and conduct the heat. As Schicko said, you will find it more difficult to melt or cool stuff with a faster laser as even though it gets there first, it will also touch the target for a very short amount of time, in cases of directed heat weapons, the contact time is important thus "speed" != "efficiency". Of course, since this is a competition, the fact that the minimum requirements involve using a mechanism that reduces efficiency works quite well as it allows a slightly larger amount of contrast between the competitors skills.
So what about if the judges also rate the lasers on "speed" sub-categories; one on PHOT speed (by length of traveled pixels from nozzle to next PHOT) and one on efficiency (speed of laser on the counter). That way, lasers entrants can have a chance of winning on different categories.
Also, I propose we have different tiers; lower, middle and higher. Lasers will be put on their tiers depending on their pixel count. That way, entrants are likely to be more active (because they'd need to make several lasers for different tiers, categories and sub-categories).
BTW, someone really needs to improve/change the obstacles, their just not right for ACELasers
Name: DECL/ACEL/LIGH/ARAY Laser (Two of the same Laser, One Modified to be Hot and one Modified to be Cold) Comp: Pixel Teir Class: Teir 1 Uses PRTI & PRTO to Achieve High Velosity while still being Space Effecient. Uses DCEL First to slow down the Photons for Better and Faster Heating and Cooling.) Uses ACEL speed up the Pre-heated Photons before exiting the PRTO on it's way to it's target. SaveID:
