The universe implodes. (and your calculator gives you a little error)

    Why does 1 + 1 = 2?

Numbers ae a human construct used to model the universe. 1 + 1 = 2 because we have decided that it best models the universe when used in that manner. Just to show how arbitrary this is, 1 + 1 = 10 in binary.

What stops the universal constants, such as gravity, from altering?

EDIT: Original post from my kindle, spelling corrections abound.

Scientists haven't figured it out quite yet, but if a fundamental force did change, we wouldn't know it- we'd die too fast (if gravity changes, the atoms in our body destabilize and break, etc.)

Oh, almost forgot- Fundamental forces can get stronger or weaker in an environment with enough energy.

because light waves bounce off of objects and go into your iris with different wavelengths. Except for black, black is the absence of light.

Because video games are designed specifically to be fun- fun is addicting to the human brain.

Why is paper money worth so much more than the materials used to make it?

Because it is used only to represent that amount of money. Although there is a small amount of money lost in the process, it is not sufficient enough to cause a big problem.

Why is it "human nature" for a person to act so defensive?

Those who assert their dominance tend to have an evolutionary advantage, it seems. Questioning someone is a form of asserting your dominance over them, so it would make sense that they would act defensive, they must avoid appearing weak.
