The population is filled with intelligent individuals and bright minds with a great love for their country, and a burning hatred for Hitler. Despite all those, all people steer away from conflict and only let war be the solution in severe cases, yet all the people are great oportunists and are swift to change sides towards the winner in a debate or conflict.

So basically the AHC is a peace-loving (ignore all the nukes) knowledge-craving technology-dependent equallity-loving utopia... filled with oportunists.
