    I like the idea of an electronics layer. This layer would run in the background, and would only simulate electronics. There would be a special conductor which would conduct to another pixel of special conductor on the front layer, ONLY IF THE TWO WERE ON THE SAME PIXEL (same x/y coordinates.) If it didn't simulate anything but SPRK and heat, along with only supporting electronic elements, it wouldn't make it too laggy, and would literally double the available space for computer simulations, allowing more focus on user interface and (for the love of god) ability for computers to have real SCREENS.
