    to have 2 layers the amount of processing is squared not doubled

    2^2 = 2x2

    @alexthesax

    OpenGL is a graphics drawing and processing protocall/library. It's what's used to draw and process the entire UI and graphics for such programs as Blender 3D, gl-117, and others. Strangely, I know little about OpenCL.

    @plypencil

    Simon does have a point. 4 == 4 last time I checked...

    ntel are keeping their 1366 and 1156 range (numbers may be wrong but you know what i mean) 775 and mobile P are being scrapped.

    They are coming out with a new design which does not use a FSB.....meant to be a lot faster. They are also working on DDR3E Which allows speeds of 4000mhz

    And that processor you linked is the exact one im going to get in a few months time! From the exact same website as well! Newegg rules :D

    Right now to put this thread back on topic OpenCL will be a great addition to the powder toy and with the new awsome things intel are going to release we can expect 3D TPT next year.

    I am of course joking but there are massive performance improvements in computing on the way.

    Kepp them? They are replacing them with 1155 and 2011 or something.

    I.E next gen processors won't be compatible with current motherboards.

    Erm.......only one thing to say to that FAIL lol but still the calculations show that a 3d environment would require a lot more.

    1155 is what all i3 and most i5 processors use, 1366 is what some i5 and all i7 use. i9 will be released with 2011 if thats the next socket

    No, i7 8** use socket 1156 for example. So does i3 and i5. But the new ones will be 1155 and 2011.
