    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115223 this one is what i want

    Buying an intel processor today is a bad choice, since they are switching sockets next year so you will not be able to upgrade the processor without switching motherboard.

    Intel are keeping their 1366 and 1156 range (numbers may be wrong but you know what i mean) 775 and mobile P are being scrapped.

    They are coming out with a new design which does not use a FSB.....meant to be a lot faster. They are also working on DDR3E Which allows speeds of 4000mhz

    And that processor you linked is the exact one im going to get in a few months time! From the exact same website as well! Newegg rules :D

    Right now to put this thread back on topic OpenCL will be a great addition to the powder toy and with the new awsome things intel are going to release we can expect 3D TPT next year.

    I am of course joking but there are massive performance improvements in computing on the way.

    if we get a mere 3x performance boost we can have up to 3 layers

    Sorry but that's not the case, to have 2 layers the amount of processing is squared not doubled. But im sure it will be possible for it to be done if the engine is optimized a little bit and people dont mind having 20fps

    Current pixel, reacts to the 8 pixels around it. If you have 2 layers the pixel can react to up to 17 pixels around it.

    600x720x8x1=3,456,000 (im not joking with the 3456 lol)
    600x720x17x2 = 14,688,000
