I honestly don't know, I've heard it might be the firewall, but I doubt that, it is a wired highspeed connection, as far as I know no proxys are enabled, I just don't know.
I honestly don't know either. I believe, though, that you could find out if it really does have something to do with iTune's connection to the internet. A way to find out would be to, instead of directly using iTunes, go online and download the iOS 4 firmware package yourself and then try an install in iTunes and see if you still get the same error. If not, then the error probably does lie with the iTunes/internet connection in some way. If you still get the same error then the problem probably lies somewhere in the iTunes/iPod area. If the second "if" evaluates to true, the best advice I have is to look it up on Google. You'd be amazed at some of the info you can find using Google...it's incredible.
Ok, just looked it up and it appears that others are having the same problem. The only thing is that there also doesn't seem to be a resolution to it as of yet either.
Lol! yeah you're probably right. I just figured I'd try to help him the best I could while I'm on here. What I just told him is pretty much the extent of what I can think of. If none of it helps, then the best place to go is definitely Apple support! Thank you, garryo!
Thanks everyone, I'll try the download tommorow, if it doesn't work I'll contact support, I just hate to do hat, you would think there would be a simpler solution.
well the link shows a couple solution/helpful suggestions to the problem but it is quite old(from 2007), so the best thing to do is to ask the experts!
Okay, to get this thread back on track, I have now managed to replicate the previously mentioned make errors and got them written out to a log file, using a Python script of course. Here's the error read-out that I got:
Just a few errors, but I'm not sure what to make of them as I don't know much about the inner workings of PT, to be honest. Though I do know what libs it #includes and these errors don't seem to indicate any problems loading the necessary libraries. In fact, the errors seem to be coming from the .c files themselves. Can someone more knowledgeable on this topic than I make more sense of this than I have?
