you can pause the game then make hundreds of seperate explosions go off shortly after each other. that plus the strain from computing the new particle types and positions would make for a bunch of jagged, badly formed sounds that would get annoying at best and have the potential to crash at worse(I've seen apps crash because too many sounds were playing at once).
plus, even if it were possible to make sure the sound only played an apt amount of times(maybe 4 with a short spacing?) it would get cheesy after a while.
