It seems that independant brands will use space flight commericially. Perhaps by 2050 space flights could be avaliable to the public. Virgin already have a sort of slingshot craft where a plane flies high, and launchers a smaller craft into orbit. Also, I see Russia landing on mars by 2030-2040. The Americians cancelled their funding, and scrapped the project. However, the Russians completed an experiment where 3 cosmonauts where locked in a mock spacecraft for 9 months. The physcfologicial effects wheren't too servere.
Let's imagine that by 2100, there are 10 billion people on the Earth Thats a bit unrealsitic, the population is growing faster than that. 12 Billin is more like it. -

On Earth, the planet differentiated, may minerals sunk to the core. This did not happen on the asteroids. If we get some kind of spacey version of modern mining machines, we could get the minerals easily. There need not even be humans involved, just robotic probes!
