Actually it isn't much IF we have a team willing to use C++ on Source Engine? We just use it to run the engine type stuff, plus there isn't a game advance enough and free that can replicate physics. Garry's Mod is ok, but it can't do material, and liquid physics. So anyone know C++?

I spoke C++ years ago, I fear it has become a bit dusty over time. I think I could help a bit but not as team lead.

Any thoughts about my layer suggestion above? I think it is quite doable and would extend the powder toy quite nicely.

It would be great, I suggested it too, but other did too. The one thing stopping that is lag. If there was away to make layer simulations less laggy then yes it's a great idea, and could improve creations.

I would suggest c#, it's faster, easier to use, and more robust of a language IMO.

It's possible if Powder Toy switched to a different 3D engine, such as Unreal or Source.

I know of the engines your talking about, but unfortunately I dont know how hard to implement said engines would be. May I ask hypothetically how hard it would be to introduce either of those two engines?

Impossible, if you want the resulting game to be anything like the current.

3D-math and collision detection and heat-transfer... GLHF!

Yes, exactly, I wouldn't be opposted to 2.5d (2d with layers) but I don't think we could run 3d very well (or even code it for that matter)
