    simple

    Portal In and Portal Out make low pressure and high pressure respectively.

    so that they can take in particles faster and ejaculate them faster

    so that they can be used efficiently than without the pressure.

    Yes, hotair is not a very informative name. Probably comes from the fact that for an ideal gas, the pressure of the gas increases with temperature.

    Wiki updated with more accurate descriptions of element properties.
