Ohai! Just read over this, and it hasn't gone off on a tangent like before. If anyone was wondering I did give bchandark permission to repost this. If these were implemented in the 44.8 beta (if there is one), I could create quite a few mechanisms with them. That is, going by my version anyway as bchandark's is slightly but crucially different. I guess if you really think about it PLTN is just a mixture of METL, FUSE, and NTCT and PLDM is a mixture of SPNG, PUMP and maybe PLUT
@Diissaster I believe it would work just fine if PLDM slowly decayed into NEUT and PLTN when above 1000C. I think making it fissile would give it even more uses.
@cracker64 Changing the speed at which it conducts isn't really necessary, I just wanted it to be a bit more different than METL. I don't want to make your life hell by forcing you to code complex new things into TPT, unless you want to of course.
@ the last two posts I see your ignorance, lack of ability to accept new ideas and a dying imagination. No offence intended though. All opinions are valid in my eyes.
In fact it would probably only be silver, as copper is not a native element and is full of impurities, but the difference between silver and platinum is only one more free electron per atom... wait, why am I going all sciency? I must stop doing that. Anyway, I've already established that PLTN won't conduct electricity any faster than METL, but thanks for your insight pyromaniac, as you have got me thinking again.
@roguegeneral-- @Finalflash50 Practicality is explained in the post right above you. A liquid conductor that doesn't evaporate so easily is much needed in TPT. The added properties of platinum just make it even better.
I've also been reading around the forums, and I've seen suggestions about an instant heat setting tool. I think that Platinum might be able to solve the issue when used in conjunction with WIFI or PUMP.
