Catelite, I found TPT more or less by accident about a week ago (and i've been hooked since) and as such haven't followed this project from day-1. So now i know what it originated from... Also, from my short time on this forum so far i've read enough to understand that fun is the main goal and not realism - which i'm totally fine with.
Having said this, i'm not requesting this be turned into a hyper realistic "explosive simulator" or the likes (and who am i to make requests/demands like that?) but rather that some of the elements included be modified to a form and function more fitting their name, without going overboard on the technical details. In TPT ice melts to water when heated, this water boils when further heated (@100 degrees celsius when not pressurized, "just like IRL"), liquid oxygen burns well, glass shatters, etc. why not make explosives behave a little bit more like explosives - this is my suggestion, not downright gripe and moan. In any case, your house your rules, i'll still be playing whatever the outcome!
Baboonox Coolest "newguy" right there^^^. Anyway I agree with the explosion thing. I don't want them to be changed, but maybe an element that acts like you want.
To make a note, you need to look at what effects to creations already made with C-4. With that, it kills the idea of modifying existing elements to being more realistic. About 32,400 creations made. How many have C-4 lit by fire in some way? This is what people need to think before asking a realistic modification.
Lockheedmartin I didn't say they should change C-4 and other explosives. I said they should make a whole new element that explodes differently. I know many creations use those including mine.
Lockheedmartin & Dragonfree, Point taken no problems.
Basically what i'm looking for is the ability for explosives to generate much more heat, shock and overpressure than they currently do and thus to shatter and displace mass in a much more "violent" way, not for explosives to behave just like the real thing. I can easily see TPT having a real problem should it have to compute thousands of particle trajectories @ 8000m/s in realtime, which is roughly the detonation speed of C4.
So judging by some of the replies, modifying C4 and the other existing explosives in TPT is out of the question then due to peoples savegames breaking - i can understand that. Would it then be totally off to simply create a new element/type of explosive with different parameters than the existing ones, or would the implementation of this require a major rewrite of the the game code? Just curious...
