I want logic gates that work, even the simple one can't be used for my use case because A) it breaks when hit by protons and doesn't recover, B) It doesn't work when it has anything around it, and C) The code already exists to due the job with no save breakage just add the mod into the game already.
Thank you for proving my point by the way, it shows my point perfectly and that this game built around realisim, and simulating phyisics for things you may or may not want to make in real life is now getting held back by petty elitism around adding functions that are actually usefull to everbody besides the "experts" FLIT does not exist in real life, so anything using them useless in real life, while actuall logic gates are usefull in real life and actully enable the "dumb" ones to learn something, and it's the devs that decided to put their effort into a single buggy sinkhole, not me so i don't care if it hurts thier feelings or what ever.
I gave you a not gate that works, the only thing that can disrupt it is if there is something in between the FILT and the LDTC that blocks the BRAY used by the gate, you can put INSL around it as long as you don't block the BRAY.
The code for dedicated logic gate materials might exist in a mod but that doesn't mean the game devs can just use it.
The point of the game is to make your own stuff which includes logic gates. What you call elitism is actually the game's high skill ceiling, IOW the fact that the game still offers a challenge to experienced players exactly because it requires you to build your own stuff and doesn't provide everything under the sun as ready made materials. If that's elitism then I'm an elitist who is trying to make everyone part of the elite (which isn't very elitist).
I'm not calling you dumb, I'm calling your motivation into question because in the time you've been going on about the lack of dedicated logic gates in the unmodded game here on the forum you could have easily mastered FILT/ARAY well enough to build your own and learn something new in the process. Instead you call the stuff you don't even bother to learn a "buggy stinkhole" and expect the people who know better to be really nice to you.
And I do't know if you noticed but the whole electricity thing doesn't exactly work like in real life (where connecting a single wire to a battery doesn't do much) .
Sorry for the necro, but this has called my attention. I'm going to be honest, and yeah I'm going to be blunt, but this needs to be addressed. If you think that good saves are made by what you call elites, or as you say the mods pick and choose "elitism". Then you have to take into account. That the game is cheating you, if that's the case, then I guess many before me and after me. Where just cheaters and elites, while the mods encouraged "elitism". However, not only are you wanting the game dumbed down for you, and other beginners. You're making baseless accusations that the game is "rigged" and too "hard" for beginners.
I'm sorry, but that's just false. There's a wiki that can help you and "other users" who find the game too hard. The wiki has produced legends, pros, and notable users, those who've studied it. Your accusations of "elitism", "nepotism", "rigged" etc. Lack merit and unfounded accusations. The Powder Toy doesn't need to be dumbed down just cause you're throwing a fit.
In other words as someone might say, "Get good son!" - Mutahar (SomeOrdinaryGamers).
P.S. I don't claim to be a professional player, I just got to be around a lot.
I agree. Maybe this should be locked to avoid potential flaming. My intentions where meant to address the baseless accusations of "elitism". While going into further details, no further details are needed.
Well at least it's existince was acknowlaged, and I didn't mean to snap.
It's just I have made good points, and gotten back answers that didn't work for my use case, or understand the documention which is not pertularly clear on how to properly read or constuct said logic gates out of FLIT being it says to set TMP property to a value and use this 8 frame, 5 secend gif as reference, hopefully the new wiki page on the subject with proper build guids that I have heard about fixes that when it arrives but It is incedibly frustrating asking different questions and getting the same unhelpfull response back with little signs that my feedback was actually being understood, or just getting brushed off entierly. I am sorry if I offended anyone, or call everyone elitist on the basis of cheating or rigging the system, just that it seemed that knowbody cared to even properly respond or understand why I would like logic gates to exist as thier own blocks, and jumped to the conclusion that A) I'm lazy, B) Stupid, or C) that I want to waste everyone's time for kicks. I just want simple and compact logic gates no more, no less but since I have finally gotten a proper response to my question, and my opinion was actually considered by an actuall developer I can actually rest on this subject for the most part.
Nobody finds you dumb, or is calling you dumb, rather questioning your motivation/motives. Even experienced players are challenged to create. The point of The Powder Toy is meant to create your own, experimentation, find your niche etc. It's not based on "rigging, elitism, nepotism, cheating, and etc." All it takes is time and research into the wiki, practice makes perfect. Take me for example, as an artist my love for drawing has taken me over a decade to draw realistic. While you can get better off practicing/applying the game mechanics, won't take a decade, but the hard work pays off in the end.
I see your point but for such a usefull and complicated componet it's documentaion is severly lacking, most of the other electronics have a animated gifs along with a working example, and a complete description in their usage tutorials.
Meanwhile all FLIT seem to have is a very long description, and seemingly no working examples of thier amazing logic capability, just how to set them to certain modes, which is useless when I actually want a on/off signal because it dosen't say how to actually get them to output anything, let alone take a input. Iv'e tried to make FLIT not gates from the "guide" which took like 20 tries to even get anything usefull that could take a input, but it still did no logic it just acted like a wire, and as for the working example I have been at pointed to use they broke when I actually tried to copy/paste into anything, and if just tried to recrate them were I needed them they just didn't spark anything with logic at all, and if they broke I coudn't get them to work agian short of restoring the last working version which while not unrecoverable means that doing anyhing with them is impossible if I have to keep wiping out my work and reseting things all the time. Which tells me that trying to make anything usefull with them is probably going to be impossible, Iv'e poured hours in FLIT attempts and I got nowhare, reading the guide over and over, and looking at existing saves for clues and all I got that worked was FLIT based capaciter/battery. I'm open to trying FLIT again but having a hard time seeing the point in it honestly.
Thank you, Seriosly thank you. I'm sure people will be willing to wait, I sure am since I do actually like the concept of FLIT, the actuall usablity of it with the current wiki guides however is questionable at best.
Actually a lot of opensource software and Linux in general has a problem with good documentaion being somewhat rare, and the man pages (short for manual pages) tend to lack examples, use guides, or anything beyond the raw variables you can use.
Luckly I use gui softwear 95% of the time, the 5% of time I use terminal commands are to use somthing without a gui, fix something requiring a terminal to fix due to disk corruption caused by bios problems with my media server (it hangs on shutdown and I must fix the filesystem with fsck when I have to hardpower it off), and my own scripts I made to due some things I need that don't have a propely working alternative that I can actually use. So yea I'm used to bad documentation which is why I normally just read a article or post somewhare insead of driving myself crazy, which probably has somthing to due with my meltdown over how confusing and unhelpful the "guide" was when being told to just read the manual multiple times.
The more functions something has, the better the manual needs to be otherwise people will get mad and give up and blame the software, hardware, tool, or device instead of bothering to spend another hour to figure it out.
