My perception of DAVPPK's resistor and timer elements is:

timer only allows a spark to pas through it only at certain intervals based on heat, the hotter the timer particle is, the longer it takes between sparking. a good example is water, if you put a sparking rod of metal into water, the water only takes the current every few seconds, and not every spark.

Resistor will continually take transmit every spark, just they will travel slower based on heat. Water is also kind of a good example, as electricity moves slower through it. Also, antb's mod did or does have lead, which although not heat affected, is a resistor that very slowly passes on current
