New Save Sorting Method

So do most of the devs. They are all very intelligent guys, and most of them are going through higher education right now. Even then, are you so dense that you assume that everyone that is not you has nothing to do in their lives? People have college classes to attend, jobs to work, personal issues to sort out, etc. So yeah, your argument is still BS, if you are unable to post in a certain window, many others are unable to as well.

Your proposed system solves nothing at all, I have never seen an FP post that I thought "oh wow nobody upvoted this and liked it, how the hell did it make fp?" because that is not how the FP system works.

You come across as the most entitled person I have ever read. Maybe you are not getting FP because nobody likes your saves? Maybe the devs have better things to do then change a working system on the whim of a single forum poster who acts like the devs should just tremble as his feet and listen to his will.

""By Date" section containing 5 saves from a single user all on 1 page"

I've noticed this too. In the past, we had people resaving things every few minutes to keep their saves on the first page of "By Date". Then a limit on how often resaving bumps each save to the first page of recent saves was added. But there now seem to be some people resaving large numbers of their saves at once to fill recent saves with them, when they haven't actually changed anything in those saves. I'd much rather see saves from a variety of different users, than lots of saves by a few users which reappear every day in recent saves. Different sort orders are therefore a valid subject to discuss.

To me, this suggestion seems a bit complicated, and requires extra user effort and planning if someone is bothered about getting on the front page. I'd rather that effort and planning went into making saves, instead of advertising saves. Sure, having one of their saves on the front page tends to make people happy, but getting on the front page shouldn't be the whole point of playing TPT.

Personally, I think a sorting order that only shows one save for each user (the most recently updated save) might be worth a try, with the saves in order of update time (as in the current "By Date"), but with each user only being able to bump themselves to the top of the list once a day, by updating one of their saves.

However, I don't think it's possible to invent a method that will work perfectly and always showcase good saves. If there's a save on the front page that isn't good, vote down and it will disappear. And as other people have said, if a save is jaw-droppingly awesome and hasn't made it onto the front page, you could link to the save on the forums or on IRC.

If more people are active, more people will be looking at saves, but also more people will be posting saves, so yours will disappear faster. So I would imagine that the number of people who see a save will average out to be roughly the same regardless of when you post it.

I've said no multiple times. My vote still stands, as the rest of the community and staff has said, it's a complicated and a bit of an unfair system.

Simply put, you're token system makes it so people with lower tokens now have to compete against those with a spotlight. Which now SEVERELY reduces their chances. Not to mention there are just over 100,000 users in the community. Having many of them spend tokens will result in a flood of the spotlight section. Thus making it impractical.

Also, I'm really annoyed you've still used timing as something of an excuse. I live on the East coast and have to get a college education too. Yet, I get front page occasionally still. It's about the quality of the save that attracts people basically. As @jacksonmj said, it's about the projects. The sake of making quality, innovative, and interesting projects.

Years ago there was no front page system. Today we do and it's a luxury for users to pick at, but a task for moderators to keep tabs on. The front page used to be just like the second page, fixed and never moved. It's a reward for gaining a medium amount of votes.

The front page has caused more problems, but those are typically outweighed by user feedback and content.

    Well...

If you use this promoting system, it might be unfair. Some who do nothing in 31 days and gets a lot of promoting points, and others who are busy 2 whole days, getting almost no points.
