Why does it matter whether people necro or not, just ignore it and let the thread die again (and probably be locked anyway). Also in this case it was helpful to reply to the post, because it asked a question. the 404 comments thing is just a hack, that save does a lot of weird things like prevent you from voting / commenting already.
