Its ussually either that error or something along the lines of that. or

The reason that not many people know about it is probably that most people on windows seem to use VS. I don't usually use windows, and haven't tested any of the wiki tutorials recently.

delete the source and start over, compile before you do anything else, make sure you add the libraries too -
