Facepalm - just like humans are basically a genetic deformation of apes, chickens must be a genetic deformation (or evolutionary stage) of protochickens. So the egg was laid, yet it was a protochicken egg, but because they were evolving into what we call a chicken today, it turned into a prereleasechicken, which then laid an egg, which evolved to be a chicken egg.

    LOGIC FTW.

Chickens are evolved from dinosaurs, like all the other birds.

The egg. Eggs have been around for millions of years.

I'm just tweaking my whole evolutionary theory of chickens...
Very-early-protochicken-egg -> Protochicken lays protochicken egg, which hatches into -> Alphachicken lays alphachicken egg, which hatches into -> Betachicken lays betachicken egg, which hatches into -> Prereleasechicken lays prereleasechicken egg, which hatches into -> Chicken!

Actually, people seem to get taller by about 1.5cm every 100 years on average

It must have been the egg.
Think about it. A chicken cannot mutate from a protochicken egg - the genetic structure of an organism cannot significantly change after it is born.
However, the egg a protochicken laid must have had some mutant genetic material in it before it hatched, therefore producing a chicken.

Same thought here. I don't see how it couldn't be true. Also, "protochicken"... GREATEST. ANIMAL. EVAR!

    Ummm... duh
    The Egg!!
Insects, amphibians, reptiles and some mammals had eggs before the chicken ever existed!!!
