    Is there a way to remove the background of TPT, making it a overlay to the desktop?

    No, there isn't a way to make the background transparent.

    Assuming you're using Windows, there's probably some command line stuff you can do to make a window transparent / reduced opacity. I've done this before but on a Linux system, so you'll need to search google for specific Windows instructions
