People leaving is exactly what we need. Since we're using real world examples here, I'd like to bring in natural selection. The weak (12 year olds, people like Lucky) would leave, while the people who didn't give a shit about trolls would stay. With the absence of butthurt children, trolls would go away for the most part, and TPT would become a tranquil place. But whatever. It's obvious that I won't change your mind.

Simply ignoring it won't help. The old server had the same issue here. What happened in the end was, it shutdown. Memory, lack of power, and people eventually left it because the trolling, stealing, and harassment became so much. Don't think I'm basing this off total reason and philosophy. It's happened and moderators are here to prevent something like that from happening again.

@Soviet And most people end up standing up for a friend before they're 10. You haven't ever fought for anything substantial.

@Soviet Yes, it would have helped. It would have showed Lucky that he can't run to authority the second someone talks shit about him @Lock That would be valid evidence if were discussing an actual government. It might be bad at first, but people would slowly realize that all these "trolls" were just fucking with them and want them to react with a war. This board would slowly become normal, and people wouldn't complain so much about copying, stealing, whatever.

Simply letting it go is what the historicist call "Salutary Neglect". That is when you let the whole community go free and ruin themselves. It's what the British tried and it resulted in more troubles for them than the colonists. Doing the same would be a continuous war of people harassing each other more and saves being spammed with insults and hatred. If no one helps the one minority, then it's a lost cause in more stances.

i apologize for interrupting you Lockheed.but i have one final thing to say to him.Lockheed is right.its not censorship.its common curtsy.some times people get a little to sensitive, but not in this case.and me? I just stood up for a friend.i'd do it any day of the week.you tend to fight for more reasonable things when you have friends.I'm not doubting your compassion towards your mother and her beliefs.i'm doubting your ability to make reasonable decisions. and as for lucky.you honestly think that would have helped? you have terrible people skills.

My prime example for why that's wrong is that kid Lucky. I would compare this to a classroom. Remember that one annoying kid/teachers pet that you couldn't do anything to because the teacher backed him? If people could have freely insulted Lucky, we would have been saved from loads of drama, as well as Lucky himself. Maybe he could have been allowed to grow some balls instead of making "the teacher" stand up for him.

Actually I notice most others who do not create some sort of rule over swearing and insulting, have worse community relations when trying to get a serious answer or showing something is not allowed. For others taking it seriously, they can if they want. It's their decision. You may not like their opinion, but you can't force the change.
