This is a device that bounces beams of light off objects and recives the return beam, and detects them. It has the added advantage of setting wooden ones on fire. If you have any suggestions please comment them!

lidar utilises lower wavelengths for higher res but struggles in certain conditions or long range but radar uses radiowaves which are lower res but much better for bad conditions and long ranges
