This is what I believe my nuclear power plant save would realistically look after a catastrophic blowout.

    Moreso a blowout, I guess. Initially some type of steam explosion within would've launched the reactor lid and as oxygen and hydrogen rushed in, another larger explosion would occur that would launch debris and graphite moderator blocks into the air.

    It was a double disaster basically, there was 2 explosions, a steam explosion and a hydrogen explosion from the meltdown. So yes, the reactor lid would have flipped and corium would melt deep within the building.

    You meant after a catastrophic steam explosion? only that kind of accident would launch and flip the lid. meltdown is just the fuel rods overheating and turning into liquid metal
