It's good that it is still being recognized. Very tragic disaster.

Haven't heard about that game in awhile

If I recall correctly, this vessel exists within the game known as Stormworks: Build and Rescue.

Also aboard, several engineers, and one had reported an issue with a boiler, however it was brushed off. At around 2AM, there was a boiler explosion, which tore a 25-foot hole in the ship. The Sultana was sinking AND on fire. Several had already died from the initial explosion and many more were going to. It was when bodies had floated down river that it was clear a tragedy occured.

You are correct, yes. After the Civil War, many Union soldiers were left in Confederate POW camps, and the government was awarding any captain who brought aboard some of these soldiers- $2.50 for each soldier and $8 for each officer. The captain, hoping to make extra money, brought aboard as many as possible. The orignal 376 passenger vessel had carried 1000 more.
