@QnpfvTPz 5 bits wide is what the game itself uses for temperature dependent FILT colors and to indicate charge when LITH reflects PHOT. 9 bits wide definitely looks better (but results in a smaller color palette).

You get maximum saturation with a bitmask 9 bits wide.
