bodester: To explain would make this comment too long. Use mark2222's subframe lessons, or use line delete (shift+right click) or box delete (ctrl+right click) to delete the top layers of the stacked parts and see what's going on under the hood.

what is the purpose of the 2 conductors per unit in the machine?

It is true that if the white BRAY was constant, the machine that keeps the solid BRAY alive would be unnecessary, but if you want the ARAY to just be sparked at anytime, this is the way to go.

Or better: just make sure the BRAY never dies, if it disappears it won't be able to stack itself again.

There is another way to do it if the BRAY is constant (active every frame, useful for subframing mostly): just pause, stack a BRAY on top of whatever you want it to pass through, unpause and you're done. Just make sure the ARAY that creates the BRAY is fired every frame.
