Io was discovered January 8th1610 by the Italian astronomer Galileo. Io is often referred to as a celestial body of fire and ice due to Io's average surface temperature being -130c despite it's volcanos. Fire display recommended.

  actually no I was wrong io does have an atmosphere made from gases expelled by erupting volcanoes
