To be honest, it's also confusing, since it's never quite clear whether someone means the specific character, or one of the fans. It also excludes lizard/bird characters, which I find a weird distinction to make. To be quite frank, it's a mess. -

It's this awful branding that makes me hesitant to call myself one even if I like anthro-characters a majority of the time. First it sounds stupid, and it's also garnered a HORRIBLE reputation thanks to certain nasty people who joined as an outlet for perverted passions.
