The Edmund Fitzgerald was a Great Lakes Freighter that was launched in 1958 and sunk on November 10th of 1975, with a crew of 29 on board in Lake Suprerior 17 miles from shore. The ship was one of the biggest and was 222 meters long, and 22 meters wide.
