    also if you heat any liquid in a sealed container it will probably explode due to vapor pressure

    @JasonS also for air-burning substances like oil or aluminum powde there's a volumetric detonation method, when fuel is sprayed into a form of a cloud for better air contact, which is the polar opposite of enclosed space

    Another interesting fact is that high explosives are typically very insensitive and just burn similar to flash paper or some such, but when ignited with a sufficiently powerful shockwave it totally detonates so quickly that the pressure doesn't have time to dissipate until the whole thing has exploded.

    Actually for uncontained explosions high explosives are used because they can generate the high pressures needed for a proper detonation even when uncontained, but for low explosives containment is needed for a proper detonation as it just burns really quickly otherwise. For fuels that need air and therefore aren't explosives, uncontained is the obvious choice since otherwise they don't get the air they need.
