    One of the best, and least-known, heat sources, is LAVA (PLUT) with a high TMP. You have to use the console or Properties tool to set its tmp, unless you scraped it out of a high-grade fusion reactor. Its tmp falls (I think by 1 per frame, but I haven't properly tested this aspect), but until it reaches 0 it will constantly heat itself up to max temperature every frame.

    Lightning isn't actually very good at heating things. DEUT + NEUT is EXTREMELY good at heating things, and can be easily contained. Constant ARAY or, better, CRAY (BRAY) with life 1, are even better and easier. GOL is really simple to use, since it doesn't create or respond to pressure and it's self-sustaining as long as you leave it alone. Stable (subframe-CONV'd) plasma is extremely effective, but VERY sensitive to pressure and gravity.
