Bigger and tougher than the Platyparian Space Cruiser, the Monotreme Class Battleship features the latest in Platyparian space warfare technology. Time to go push some weaker spacefaring nations around!... As long as they don't destroy the reactor...

zolko, WT, even though realistic for a game, tends to be somewhat distinct from the real world in its workings

76 mm Sherman has 150 mm penetration with M62 shell. Firefly has 190 mm penetration with Mk.8 shell. Tiger has 100 mm frontal armor and it can effectively angle up to 130 mm which is still not enough to deal with M62. Panther has only 100 mm on turret front so it is also easy to penetrate. Tiger 2, Jagdtiger and Jagdpanther were rare and both 76 and Firefly need to flank them.
-
@Beatless123 not if you were trying to penetrate a Tiger Tank's front armor. Even the 76mm Shermans could only do so w/o lucky shots with their dedicated tungsten core anti-armor shells IIRC, which were *not* their main ammunition.

M4A2/A3(76)W Shermans were much better than Firefly Shermans, mainly because their ammo (M62) had explosive filler.

yup, more firepower is always the answer- although fireflies had ways to go... of course, all my designs are free to copy

(Or to give another example, its like how the British bought US Sherman tanks in ww2, retrofitted them with heavier guns to properly fight German tiger tanks, and ultimately provided converted models back to the US when the latter realized they needed more firepower)

@TheNukeCat111 that is awesome! I really like how you are taking and improving the design. By all means install a rail-gun. At some point you should re-christen the fully modified ship (like what happened in IRL navies when warships are bought & modified), but do you mind if I occasionally borrow some of the improvements?

hello, the reacttor is finished and i have upgraded the point-def guns. Will work on engines and weaponry- can i fit my advanced railgun design there?

amazing
