    I don't think you can split hadrons such as protons and neutrons into quarks because they have fractional charges, and that hasn't been observed in nature yet

    SpeedCat998: quarks and gluons of which protons and neutrons consist will fly away, but then they will eventually connect to another particles creating neutrons and protons again, but in different places. This particles will create new atoms of different materials (mostly hydrogen and helium).

    The quarks go through anything in the way. They pull those quarks away from their components. Quarks everywhere. Lots of energy byproduct.
