    also by "last bit" i think furiousweasel means the most significant bit that is always on to avoid bray annihalation.

    actually, any rule inside a finite space will repeat since a finite space only has a finite amount of states, however, a field of all bits being 0 would still be considered to be a repeating state.

    @DUC Incorrect, for this particular rule (102) it is impossible for it not to repeat within a finite space.

    But if you were to change the output, you could mess with the way the machine oscillates and change the values of the FILT aparatuses for the PHOT lasers.

    You could get it down to 2x9 (or 1x9 if you omit having the last bit a 1).
