    In other words, in TPT terms they are a type of PHOT, though they also have the NEUT- or PROT-like property that they can pass through certain materials but are reflected by others.

    Microwaves don't use electrons to heat things. They use (believe it or not) microwaves, which are a part of the electromagnetic spectrum and as such could be considered as a kind of 'invisible light'.
