    knoUkantar, The laser system research has been stopped. Too expensive. They are not that practical within an atmosphere. Conventional missiles are more then enough to shoot an ICBM down while it's in its ascent phase. There is pretty much nothing that can shoot down a moden nuclear warhead coming in. However, noth korea don't have access to a GPS network, so it's unlikely they can guide their missile with the precision required to hit a target in the US.
