    well, nuclear explosions on sand actually create "trinitite", a kind of glass. Trinitite is named after trinity, the name of one of the first nuclear explosions, and the first time the glass-like stuff was ever created.

    to make it more realistic put some glass at the base of the explosion. because thats what nukes do
