in the engine rooms and first class areas: yes. however, the cavernous indoor resort areas / malls / halls which many modern cruise ships have are wonderful, and steamers completely lacked those. although arguably the great hall / grand staircase that could be found somewhere between the top deck and first class area of larger steamers looked better than that. -
